The term synesthesia derives from the ancient Greek συν (together) and αισθησίσ (perception) and indicates the simultaneous perception of the five senses. the interaction between the senses is crucial as our brain constantly processes information transmitted by our external receptors. We can say that our five senses, although autonomous, are closely linked. In the experience of colour, all information flows into a unified perception where knowledge and instinct merge, influencing our perception of temperature, volume, weight, the passage of time and noise.
